It’s All Aboard for Story Time! with the fun and fabulous Mad Scientist from the Spookomotive train ride fame on Monday, October 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the California State Railroad Museum. To the delight of train enthusiasts, young children and the young-at-heart, the Mad Scientist will read two (delightful not frightful) books including The Spooky Express California by Eric James and Monster Train by Michael Ratnett. Children are welcome to dress up in Halloween costumes if they choose.

The California Automobile Museum is proud to present a new exhibit titled Hitting the Road: Road Trippin’ Through the Years” that debuts on Friday, September 28, 2018. The fun and exciting exhibit allows guests an opportunity to explore the historic American pastime of traveling with family and friends. Depending on age, race, and financial status, experiences and memories of road trips differ dramatically. The goal of this exhibit is to explore these differences along with how the automobile and road trips changed American culture, and also helped to shape entire industries.

Back by popular demand, California State Parks and the California State Railroad Museum & Foundation will offer engaging and entertaining “Spookomotive” train rides in Old Sacramento every weekend in October. With VIP First Class train rides also available, “Spookomotive” trains depart hourly from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays on October 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 & 28, 2018.
