First-Ever Photography Month Sacramento to highlight 60+ events, activities & exhibits in April

Proudly led by Viewpoint Photographic Art Center – a non-profit organization located in Midtown Sacramento – in collaboration with many partners including the City of Sacramento, the community’s first-ever Photography Month Sacramento is scheduled for the entire month of April. With more than 60 events, activities and exhibits scheduled thus far (and counting!), Photography Month Sacramento is designed to celebrate the visual arts while creating an accessible and visually-exciting collective experience that brings people together. Plus, official opening and closing receptions have been announced and are planned as follows:

 

Photography Month Sacramento Opening Reception

Thursday, 4/5 at 5:30 p.m. 

Matsui Gallery in City Hall, 915 I Street, Sacramento 

Open to the general public, Mayor Darrell Steinberg and other guests will officially kick-off Photography Month

Sacramento with a special recognition ceremony at the Robert T Matsui Gallery in City Hall (915 I Street) featuring the exhibit: Time Machine: Inspiration, Reinterpreation, Compilation. The exhibit was created by the Focus Group (a group of eight professional photographers), with support from the Center for Sacramento History.

 

Photography Month Sacramento Closing Reception 

Friday, 4/27 at 6:30 p.m. 

Aerospace Museum of California, 3200 Freedom Park Drive, McClellan Park 

To help close out Photography Month Sacramento, guests to the Aerospace Museum will have an opportunity to experience the new McClellan Gallery and learn the stories from photographer Carolyn Russo about the amazing air traffic control towers featured in the Art of the Airport Tower exhibit. Attendees will enjoy live music, wine, and appetizers while admiring the architectural beauty and historical significance of the structures featured in 50 striking photographs. Plus, guests can engage in a special VIP Meet and Greet before the full reception to have more time with these amazing images and chat with Russo about her experiences. Tickets for the reception cost $25 and the advance VIP Meet & Greet cost $40 and are available at https://aerospaceca.org/special-events/.
