Sacramento police nab suspected bank robber

SACRAMENTO, CA - A bank robbery suspect didn't get far Thursday morning, thanks to nearby police patrol units.

A man held up a bank on Broadway a little before 10 a.m., according to Sacramento police Officer Michele Gigante. Officers in the area heard the robbery report and spotted the suspected robber's vehicle. As they were pursuing the vehicle, the driver was involved in a collision at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 13th Avenue, with one of the vehicles a patrol unit he backed into, according to Gigante.

Police surrounded the suspect's car and took him into custody.

Gigante said officers searched the suspect's car and recovered a fake gun.

No one was hurt in the incident. There was some damage to the involved cars.
