USA Swimming Has Selected Kailee Nabeta from Arden Hills to Attend National Diversity Select Camp

Arden Hills’ swimmer Kailee Nabeta, age 14, has been selected to attend the prestigious USA Swimming National Diversity Select Camp that takes place May 1-4, 2014, in Colorado Springs.  Out of several hundred applicants this year, 36 young athletes were chosen based on performance times at USA Swimming sanctioned events.  Talented athletes from underrepresented populations will participate in a special, multi-day camp program which includes pool training, motivational and education sessions and team-building activities. The purpose of the National Diversity Select Camp is to instill a vision of success and inspire athletes from ethnically under-represented populations to become leaders in the sport of swimming.

USA Swimming is a 400,000-member national service organization that promotes the culture of swimming by creating opportunities for swimmers and coaches of all backgrounds to participate and advance in the sport through clubs, events and education.

Kailee first joined the Arden Hills swim team at the age of seven and has been coached by Chris Oshiro for the last two years.  The impressive USA Swim Team at Arden Hills is led by her father Brian Nabeta, who is the USA Swim Team Head Coach & Director of Aquatics for Arden Hills.    Interestingly, Coach Nabeta has been chosen as an assistant coach for the 2014 National Diversity Select Camp and will be helping to coach his daughter Kailee for the first time this May.

Open to all swimmers with athletes being placed according to skill level, Arden Hills has a year-round USA Swim Team that is recognized by USA Swimming as a Silver Medal team, one that is classified in the top two percent of all teams in the United States.  Arden Hills has an impressive swim history and has trained an amazing number of world champion swimmers. In fact, athletes that have trained at Arden Hills have collectively set more than 200 world and American records, earned 31 Olympic medals, 21 gold, seven of which were won by legendary swimmer Mark Spitz.  For more information about the top-notch swim programs available at Arden Hills, please call 916-482-6111 or visit www.ardenhills.net or www.ardenhillsswimteam.com.
