USA Swimming Has Selected Kailee Nabeta from Arden Hills to Attend National Diversity Select Camp

Arden Hills’ swimmer Kailee Nabeta, age 14, has been selected to attend the prestigious USA Swimming National Diversity Select Camp that takes place May 1-4, 2014, in Colorado Springs.  Out of several hundred applicants this year, 36 young athletes were chosen based on performance times at USA Swimming sanctioned events.  Talented athletes from underrepresented populations will participate in a special, multi-day camp program which includes pool training, motivational and education sessions and team-building activities. The purpose of the National Diversity Select Camp is to instill a vision of success and inspire athletes from ethnically under-represented populations to become leaders in the sport of swimming.

Hollywood actor, director and musician Tim Russ provided acting pointers and an insider’s view of working in the television and movie industry during the Saturday evening taping of “Sacramento Film Works,” which airs at 6 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month on Access Sacramento.

The Northern California Filmmakers Coalition produces the show hosted by Kanisha Allen and Cline Moore.  The program highlights filmmaking in the Sacramento region and is noted for its focus on providing job tips for aspiring filmmakers.

Seven Arden Hills Swim Athletes Recently Signed Letters of Intent to Prestigious Colleges

Seven high school seniors -- all of whom are talented swimmers who train at Arden Hills -- recently gathered at the wellness resort where, surrounded by supportive friends and families, they made their final decisions and signed letters of intent to accept college scholarships for 2014.

The Arden Hills swim athletes who recently signed letters of intent include the following:
- Maddison Johnson, St. Francis High School -- Texas Christian University
- Alexis Martinez, St. Francis High School -- Seattle University
- Brittany Oxley, Vista Del Lago High School -- University of South Carolina
- Savannah Sellers, Home Schooled -- University of California, Davis
- Matt Spallas, Pleasant Grove High School -- Texas Christian University
- Jake Struckmeyer, Del Campo High School -- University of the Pacific
- Taylor Yamahata, Rio Americano High School -- Dartmouth College

 

JMG Tennis Player from Arden Hills Wins National “Little Mo” Title in Texas

JMG Tennis Player from Arden Hills Wins National “Little Mo” Title in Texas

Eight-year-old Priya Nelson of Sacramento -- who trains as part of the JMG Academy at Arden Hills -- won the 16th Annual Rogers Wealth Group “Little Mo” Nationals title in the Girls 8 Division at the Austin Tennis Academy in Texas that took place October 18-21, 2013.  She dominated the tournament winning every match in straight sets.  In the finals, she defeated Susanna Maltby of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, 6-2, 6-0.    Open to players of different age groups, the prestigious “Little Mo” tournament is presented each year by the Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation, Inc.
