Committed to fostering a center for culture, creativity and vibrancy in Sacramento’s urban core, the Midtown Association is pleased to present another season of “12 Days of Midtown” where local businesses and organizations offer celebratory events, activities and specials to encourage visitors to spend time in Midtown this season.

“Amid a thriving urban environment, the holidays offer a perfect opportunity to explore, discover and/or revisit Midtown,” said Emily Baime Michaels, Executive Director of the Midtown Association. “With so many locally owned businesses and eateries, guests to Midtown can take great pride in supporting the community while engaging in festive activities while finding unique gift items along the way.”

Throughout the first 12 days of December, Midtown guests can experience something extra special each day, a sampling of which includes the following:

 In partnership with the Museum Store Association (MSA), many Sacramento area museums are proud to participate in Museum Store Sunday on November 26, 2017. With more than 525 museum stores participating across eight countries and three continents, the international effort is designed to remind consumers about the unique and inspired shopping experience that exists in one-of-a-kind museum stores all of which showcase a broad assortment of highly curated and mission-specific gifts. Museum Store Sunday is managed by the Museum Store Association based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Museum Store Sunday is open to all independently operated museum stores and non-profit retailers located at museums, zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, historic sites, and other unique cultural institutions in the United States and internationally.

April is Financial Literacy Month, and part of being financially literate is ensuring your financial information is secure. There are several steps consumers can take to mitigate crime and ward off identity thieves, both on and offline.

1.     Keep your computer hardware and software up to date. Make sure your computer’s operating system has all the necessary antivirus updates and upgrades. This includes Wi-Fi and broadband connections.

With a high concentration of locally-owned businesses filled with an amazing array of unique and treasured gift ideas, holiday shoppers are encouraged to visit Midtown, Downtown and Old Sacramento merchants during Small Business Saturday on November 28, 2015.   In addition to the assortment of goods that can be found at local retailers, Sacramento’s urban core offers a festive and fun holiday destination to make the shopping experience both magical and memorable.

Listed below is a sampling of suggested holiday shopping stops in Midtown, Downtown and Old Sacramento plus a few uniquely Sacramento experiences to enjoy during Small Business Saturday and/or throughout the holiday season.

Give your holiday tree a proper send-off; rather than tossing it in the trash, recycle it! You’ll be doing our local landfills a favor.

Sacramento County Waste Management Recycling and SMUD are partnering again this year to offer free holiday tree recycling, including flocked trees, for residents and businesses of Sacramento County. Please remove all tinsel, lights, tree stands and nails prior to bringing them in.
