Photo Gallery | 6th grade field trip to the bowling alley is fun and math in one

Jeff Gephart's 6th grade class at Sacramento's Courtyard School went bowling for the afternoon at Country Club Lanes.  They weren't just taking the day off,  though it was an opportunity to see who could beat Mr. Gephart in bowling. This field trip was also about team building and reinforcing a math lesson. Behind the strikes, spares, and more than a few gutter balls were a lot of cheers, laughs and mental math.  Kids had to figure out such things as mode, mean, range and the average score of their teams. Now that's a day off!
